"Nude on the road again. Driving naked down the road again. Skinny Trippen with my very best nude
friends. Just can’t wait, we’re nude on the
road again. (With apologies to Willie
Nelson.) Where can nudists go to be
nude? Home and the back yard? Great, but this tends to get boring, though
it helps to invite friends over for food or games or karaoke or a pool party,
but where else? A nude beach? Sure, but nude beaches are too distant for
many naturists. A nudist resort? Resorts have become low rent or pricy or both,
and besides, visiting the same places over and over can again get boring? Maybe the area has a pool that can be rented
for nude use. Even so, this can be
expensive and get old. So home,
backyard, resort, beach, pool – where else?
I have driven literally thousands of miles naked the past few months,
and that got me thinking. Why not take a
Skinny Road Trip with friends this summer?
Yes, go traveling nude with your nudist friends. Not skinny dipping, skinny tripping. What could be better? Drive naked to see local attractions, stop to
eat a picnic and take a walk nude, take photos of you and your naked friends
standing by a road sign (now there’s a different tourist photo), talk, laugh,
just have some good naked fun. A Skinny
Road Trip is much more interesting than owning an isolated cabin lot for
sunning and hiking nude; visiting the same spot over and over can be boring,
and a nudist can Skinny Road Trip along the way to the isolated location
anyway. And a Skinny Raod Trip can even
be done in the winter!” – Ken Freehiker
". . . I set out just
before midnight, the temperature was standing at 28 degrees and the sky was
absolutely clear. I set out wearing just
shoes, kilt, sweater, and wool cap. . . I waited till I was well down the trail
and into the woods. . . in the Blue Hills reservation . . . After crossing the
bridge, being plenty warm at this point, I took off the sweater and kilt, and
continued the remaining 1/3 of a mile to the camp in natural form. With the highway behind me, its rumble muffled
by the deep woods, I began to experience a profound quite. . . The moon was
indeed bright and large, creating an intensity of light and shadow through the
stark, utterly naked forest landscape, . . the cold, though surprisingly
comfortable in the stillness, was a limiting factor to this endeavor. By the time I got to the camp, I was ready for
the sweater and kilt. . . I wandered down to the pond and sat on the dock for a
while, admiring the moonlit water vista before me. There were some ducks quacking out across the
water, the first and only animal life that I observed. The moon above reflected perfectly on the
surface of the water beside me, and all around the still pond, the reflected
forms of the trees hugging the shore. After I was sufficiently warmed, I got up and
. . . again took off my things, and enjoyed another 1/3 of mile unencumbered
walk through the brilliant stillness. . . Not surprisingly, there were not that
many stars to be seen. The light from
this unusually brilliant moon pretty much washed out the rest of the sky. . .
with the bridge a way behind me, I decided to put my things back on for the
final time. Again, the cold was sneaking
up on me, and I had had a better hike than I could have hoped for." –

"It is my opinion that
unapologetic and beautifully presented photographs of nudist families enjoying
their freedom to be nude is one of the best ways to express the nudist
idea. Our nudist community must become
more forthright with their non-nudist friends by telling them of their
involvement and enjoyment of nudism.
Nudist photographs depicting family nudist activities will help them
tell the vastly misunderstood nudist story.
And if nudist organizations wish to attract more young people to nudism,
then photographs of young nudists should be shown enjoying youthful nude
activities. Let’s share the nudist story
by presenting interesting and compelling nudist photography and see our nudist
organizations grow." - Don Keister
“I`ve recently taken up
commuting to work nude. It`s about a
half hour ride down the coast - all highway.
It is very comfortable.” – NickCalifornia
“Our 15 acres of olives
provides a lot of opportunity to get naked and have fun. I am spending the morning with my houseplants
out in the rain, cleaning up the pots, and pruning, and getting rid of the dead
leaves on them. . . A beautiful, gray, day, and the rain feels good on my
skin! Go Forth, NAKED!” - Leeanne

“. . . the other day brought
a very important first for me when my fiancee and I went . . . for a few hours
of hiking. She has more-or-less accepted
that I prefer hiking with only my shoes . . . About 1/2 mile into this hike as
she walked point, I simply jumped out of my shorts and rolled them up. She said she was ‘honored’ that I would go
naked with her on a hike. I said that it
was my honor to have her with me while I did this very enjoyable and personal
activity. It seems like she eventually
might try it, but now with my favorite person right there with me I no longer
fear about keeping my closest personal interests intact for life! . . . Perhaps
most importantly, my fiancee bore first-hand witness to the elegant sensuality
of the experience as I feel pretty much unable to be grumpy when I am naked
outside. . . this has been one of the conflicts I needed to resolve in order to
feel right about entering into another permanent relationship. . . I could not
be happy if I were asked to promise to 'quit hiking naked' . . . This
development has created a tremendous reward in full integration of my life with
hers. It has also sort of ‘purified’ my
direction. In some sense relating to
naked hikes, I have felt somewhat misdirected and have done some
self-interrogating . . . Now that I have shared this with the one person I
would ever ‘have’ to share it with in full honesty, it feels amazingly correct
for me to hike naked; physiologically, spiritually, and morally.” - Acoustixman
“The sunny weather and upper
60s drew me to . . . Symphony Lake Trail for an amazingly blessed hike. . .
Cautious, and yet drawn by the warm sun, I first hiked shirtless for a
while. The breeze was light, the yellow
fireball was intense, and there was hardly a cloud in the sky. Sweat began mixing with my suntan oil and
DEET. My body and mind were ready to be
naked in the sun. . . So, just a few hundred yards from the start of the trail,
I began the naked leg of my hike. . . This was my first time hiking all the way
to the lake. Much boulder-hopping fun
followed the second, smaller bridge on the way.
Outside the area's ruinous shelter, I rested, sunning my sweating bare
flesh on the rocks and eating my lunch. On
one side of me, I could see Symphony Lake, calling my toasted body for a cold
dip. On the other, across the deep
valley of more water, called Eagle Lake.
I could barely see and hear the outdoorsy, 20-something gentlemen I had
passed earlier. . . I continued on to the lake. . . I realized I was not alone.
A fisherman, who must have hiked in
while I'd been eating lunch . . . was sitting on the lake-side boulders some
fifty yards away. Too late to be shy
now, and far enough away not to devastate.
I took off my boots, my last bit of attire, and went in . . . the cold
completely equalized the hot temperature of my body. After drying in the air on the shore, I dipped
and dried again before hiking back. . . The entire way back I kept thanking God
for such a glorious day.” – AKBare
“’Comment: To tell you the
truth, I don't feel ‘obligated’ to do anything in the nude. I just do so because I like it.’ What an interesting dichotomy presented in
the above comment, as if the only possible positions were the ‘obligation’ to
practice naturism, or just ‘liking’ to be nude.
What about being a naturist for physical or social or mental health
reasons, or because it's good for the family, or because it's a better moral
stance, or to protest something, or to be an example for others? And thinking about these reasons, I suspect
practicing naturism just might raise to the level of an ‘obligation?’” - Ken

“With driving naked, the individual
doing the driving seems to see more - seems to be more observant of their
surroundings - more observant of laws - more observant of others. Doesn't it make sense then to allow nude
driving? Better drivers on the road, and
more appreciation of the world around us.” – Kevin
Nude driving feels
wonderful, both physically and mentally.
But nude driving is much more than just feeling good. Whenever possible, I drive nude because I
feel obligated to do so. Why? Because I am a naturist. Naturists believe that the body as God
created it is good, not something of which to be ashamed. Clothes are unnecessary distractions. Naturist practice normalizes the body
physically, mentally, and spiritually, so it’s very healthy. Beside naturism is fun and relaxing. Of course, so as not to infringe on others, I
turned our car into a traveling nudist resort - installing window coverings and
having cover-ups close at hand to keep people from looking and being shocked by
our naturalness. We're naturists, not
exhibitionists after all. So recently I
drove nude from Little Rock to Rogers, AR, and also from Tulsa, OK, to Phoenix,
AZ. As a naturist I felt obligated to do
so - just one more aspect of being true to my beliefs about living life as it ought
to be lived. But it was of course much
more than an obligation. It felt
wonderful.” - Ken Freehiker

“There shelves full of sun screen products in many
stores because you hear about how bad the sun is for you. You hear about how damaging the sun can be to
your skin. The sun can cause discomfort
at least and skin cancer at worse. The
truth is the sun is good for you and have some good benefits for your body,
particularly in the production of Vitamin D and mentally also.
The problems that you hear about and are warned about pertains to over exposure to the sun.” - Jessica, http://femalenaturist.blogspot.com/2013/05/nudity-health-benefits-of-being-naked.html

“I started sleeping nude at 13 and found
out that I enjoyed going commando soon after that. Once I took my first nude hike in the woods
near my house I was hooked and have enjoyed being naked at any opportunity
after that. Going on 51 now and I get to
enjoy being nude a lot more now that the kids have moved out and my wife and I
are starting our second phase of marriage ‘our time’. I plan on having many naked adventures from
now on!” – Eagle59
"SoCal Freehiker’s hiked to Deep Creek
hot springs on Thursday, June 24th, 2010.
Six members were able to schedule time for the hike. I arrived at Bowen Ranch a little late, but
most were waiting, naked in the parking lot when I arrived. The two mile hike down to the springs was
easy. The weather was nice and warm,
with a cooling breeze – not a cloud in the sky.
The high desert scenery along the way was beautiful. We passed one clothed couple on the way
down. As they passed, I mentioned to
them that it seemed too warm for clothes, but they didn’t respond. When we arrived, we sat on rocks to remove
our shoes in order to wade across the stream to the hot pools. The water was perhaps two feet deep and very
peasant – not cold at all. We first
gathered in a shady area to eat our lunch and talk. Then for several hours we soaked in the hot pools,
swam in the river, and talked. It was
very enjoyable. Perhaps 50 people were
at the springs, though the area is large enough so it didn’t feel crowded at
all. At least half of the people
remained clothed, especially the younger visitors – strange – but no one
mentioned our nudity, or seemed to care.
Mid-afternoon, we decided to leave. The sun was hot but the breeze
blowing past our nude bodies kept the temperature just right for the freehike
out. We passed several other clothed
people on the way out. None commented
about our nakedness, though they didn’t stop to talk. It is such a wonderful experience, freehiking
with good friends, being one with nature.” – Ken Freehiker
