“TIES!  Is there any piece of clothing more heinous than a tie?  It’s basically a choking hazard and it cuts off circulation to the brain.  I cannot imagine showing up at the Pearly Gates and Saint Peter reprimanding me for my lack of neckwear.  No Bible verse I’ve found states, ‘Thou shalt wear ties on Wednesdays or when attending church.’ . . . Now let me just take a moment to discuss swimwear.  Remember my feelings for ties and church shoes?  It does not compare to my loathing for bathing suits.  I can’t imagine how stuffing a vagina into a bikini must feel, but whoever invented modern men’s swim trunks needs to be punched in the nuts.  There are few worse sensations than walking around Adventure Island for eight straight hours with sopping wet genitals and the rest of your body bone dry.  These things hold water better than Pampers’ diapers.  I’ve forgotten swim trunks in my car for days only to discover they’re still wet!  At the beach, sand gets sucked into your butt crack and every crease and crevice of your testicles and pee hole.  I avoid the beach just so I don’t have to suffer wearing the damn things.” – Nick Alimonos, http://youngnaturistsamerica.com/least-likely-become-a-nudist/, http://youngnaturistsamerica.com/naturist-story-part-4-nudist-bird/

Why Work Naked?

I’ve had the chance to work on the trail on my land for the last couple of days – one day naked (2/25/17) and one day clothed (2/26/17).  What’s the difference?  Why work naked?  Is it for comfort?  Yes, it was too cold one day to work naked, but I needed to constantly adjust my clothing, something that was obviously not necessary when working naked.  Working naked on the nice-weather day just felt more comfortable.  Was it to show off?  I don’t think so.  I purposely avoided being seen when working naked, confining my work to areas where I wouldn’t be noticed, and working naked certainly had nothing to do with sexuality.  Was it to be the true me?  Yes, I think that gets to the heart of the difference.  Perhaps I’ve always been a bit of a non-conformist, even though I was raised in a very conservative community.  For sure, I’ve always enjoyed being naked (I guess I have the naked gene).  Working naked is just me.  I’m grateful I now live among people who try to understand and love me anyway.

“The nudist/naturist movement needs mentors . . . to help the upcoming generation keep the movement going.  It can be as easy as meeting someone new at the beach or club and making them feel welcome.  Sharing with them the joys of nudism and giving them reasons to stay.  Maybe even letting them know of upcoming events or some basic etiquette. . . There are countless stories of people who were taken under someone’s wing and given the opportunity to be great. . . If you see someone who wants to be more involved, guide them. . . “Naturism is not about showing off how fit, toned and tanned you are.  It’s about acceptance of people just as they are, regardless of what they look like.  On a nude beach, nobody is perfect, and everyone has flaws. . . There are all types of bodies, and no one should feel like they’re not good looking enough to be there.  A naturist setting is the one place where you can feel like you are good enough!” – Felicity Jones, https://youngnaturistsamerica.com/10-myths-naturism-nudism/

“Before we could give ourselves a chance to overthink it, we decided ‘screw it!’  Whipped off our tops, dropped trou, and brought out the pasty white buns.  Gone were the overpriced bathing suits designed by Calvin Klein and Michael Kors, replaced by the less pricey birthday suits designed by the more universally-known God almighty.  It was official.  We were butt-naked at midday on a public beach. . . As soon as the bikini was off and the birthday suit was on, I was overcome by a newfound sense of freedom.  Words can’t even begin to describe the cathartic nature of being fully exposed.  It’s not just a bathing suit you’re shedding.  It’s a pile of fears, insecurities, and weird-head-spaces that you’ve clung onto for years.  The physical action only represents a more grandiose, metaphorical one. . . as soon as the bathing suit was removed and the apple was set free, my internal freak-out dissipated into thin air.  It was as though I had joined a club—a club of people with the courage to be completely real with not only themselves, but everyone around them.” - Laura Van Antwerp, http://www.thetahoejournal.com/adventure/nude-beach/

QUOTES 2/26/2017

“I simply find myself caring about the issue less and less.  It’s not a passion for being naked that draws me to nudism, but an ambivalence about being clothed.  For some people it may be about a thrill, or a movement, or even some sort of cause, but for me it’s just about being comfortable.” - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203592687737925&set=pcb.916980565042782&type=3&theater

[On World Nude Hiking Day]  “A group of nineteen of us gathered in central Vermont to hike a 10-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail.  The oldest was in his mid-70's, the youngest 10 and 1/2 months.  We were also accompanied by five-year-old Ivy, an experienced hiker of the four-legged variety.  The weather was perfect for hiking nude, with temperatures in the mid-80s and enough of a breeze to keep the heat from being oppressive.  Toward the end of the hike we had a refreshing dip in Little Rock Pond, whose waters were cool but not cold.  It was a great opportunity to get to know some other active naturists.  We also passed about a dozen clothed hikers, and took the opportunity to explain by wishing them each ‘Happy Naked Hiking Day.’  Most were already aware of the tradition, though several thought it was supposed to be the next day.  One said that he had hiked nude for two hours in the morning -- apparently just checking it off his list of things to do as part of his through-hike experience rather than relaxing and really enjoying the freedom.  Too bad for him.  We all, on the other hand, greatly enjoyed the whole day and found it difficult to get dressed at the end.” – Milt, Personal email

“I have spent much of my naturist career being more confined than liberated.  Since . . . realizing that I was indeed a naturist and wanted to be naked much of the time, it has been a constant search and struggle to find safe, solitary time in nature and having to put up with corners of my garden and house to be naked in most of the time. . . keep at it, you will find places and opportunities.” – Nuduke, http://freerangenaturism.com/forum/index.php?topic=796.0;topicseen

“Nudism can’t be mainstream if we keep having misconceptions . . . like it’s mainly for the elderly . . . nudists are asexual people, nudism is dying, nudists live in colonies, and nudist places are of sexual activity.  We need to debunk all these misconceptions.  We need to educate about nudism more now than ever.” - https://rfgjga1992.wordpress.com/2016/04/28/lets-do-all-this-to-promote-nudism/

Nude Trail Cleanup Yet Again

Working naked outside cleaning a trail is fantastic.  Had the chance to do this again today (2/24/2017).  Finished to the top of the trail, and then walked the entire 1/3 mile to be sure it was done.  Still one small branch trail to complete; that will make a pleasant 1/2 hour in the future.

“Despite the way the porn industry has portrayed nudism, it is not an ‘adults only’ activity.  It is not about sex, orgies, exhibitionism, or voyeurism.  Nudism has nothing whatsoever to do with sex.  Nudism is about comfort, freedom, and acceptance of the nude human body.  It’s the belief that the human body is not inherently sexual or lewd.  It’s a mindset that allows people to separate their body from their sexual desires.  That is why there are many happy couples and families that enjoy wholesome, family-friendly nudism.” - http://heartlandnaturists.tumblr.com/post/142870112055/despite-the-way-the-porn-industry-has-portrayed

“Most people live with the constant fear that their body is not good enough. . . As a result, people are always under pressure to live up to the mythical ideal image, and use clothes as a way of hiding their feelings of inferiority.  Naturism helps to avoid this, by helping people to understand that their self-perceived body imperfections are nothing more than a confirmation of the diversity of human bodies.  This helps people to accept their bodies, and respect those of the others.” - http://blog.vritomartis.com/benefits-of-naturism/

Tonto Forest Freehike

Wednesday (2/22/2017) Amy and I drove down to Shangri La Ranch and met a couple from Canada.

We took a nice freehike in the Tonto National Forest, just five-minute drive from the resort.  Amy was the first one naked; I followed quickly.  The weather and temperature were perfect for hiking in the nude.  Nude walking always feels so nice, especially when sharing a naturist walk with new friends.

It was great sharing the desert plants with these new friends from Canada; they never imagined that a national forest could be mostly cactus.

Afterward we ate lunch at my favorite Chinese restaurant, and then we returned to the resort to work on the trails.  It was a very nice naturist day!

The weather Tuesday (2/21/2017) was wonderful, so I took the opportunity to clean up the trail on our land naked.  This section needed a lot of work, but doing it naked made such a big, motivational difference.  I love being a naturist!

QUOTES 2/23/2017

“Being outdoors, near the sea, on a warm, sunny weekend afternoon is the perfect spot for most.  In fact, participants were found to be substantially happier outdoors in all natural environments than they were in urban environments.” - U.K. study, University of Sussex

“[When] My ex-wife . . . ‘came out’ to her Mom.  Her Mom not only approved - but also gave us a ‘tacit green light’ to be nude around her.  My wife and daughter unhesitantly ran with it and stayed nude at home around her.  I tip-toed around it; I was (and still am) really just much more comfortable being nude around nudists.  My MIL [Mother-in-Law] ‘caught’ me nude on a couple of occasions and it just felt awkward to me.  I felt like she was seeing me with ‘textile eyes’ . . .it was my fault.  I wasn't vocal about my feelings . . . I found out (too late) that she was wrestling with her own body-shame, and my ‘hiding’ from her made her all the more self-conscious.  One day, I found out she went nude with my wife and daughter after I left to visit a friend, and the reality of the situation struck me.  And it was too late to turn it around.  I should have been more communicative.  I didn't think about what could have worked instead of what was not working for me.  I do know that what wouldn't have worked for me was just dropping my clothes when she dropped by and while she stayed dressed.  But if I'd had a simple conversation with her I would have found out that the idea of resort nudism intrigued her.  I could have told her that I would have really liked it if she'd accompany us on a resort trip, even if she chose to remain covered.  And at the resort, where I always go nude anyway, it would have been much easier to be nude around her.  And once that step had been taken, we could have had a frank discussion about her participation.” – Nudony, http://www.truenudists.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=101786

“It's a very liberating thing . . . People are ten times more social than they are with clothes on.  And you're only aware you're naked for the first ten seconds.  After that it's so ordinary that you stop noticing.  I do not see people naked anymore; they'd have to do something very particular to draw attention to themselves.” – Phil, https://www.vice.com/en_au/read/i-spent-a-week-training-for-a-nude-solstice-swim

“One of the primary goals of nudism is finding and accepting ourselves.  We don’t need to walk on a high wire all our lives.  That’s not a healthy way to live and we know it.  Above all be open about yourself with yourself.  It takes courage . . . [But] The rewards and a happy life are worth it.” - http://outgoingnudist.tumblr.com/post/133272348662/madeinthenude-finding-balance-many-people

“While freehiking, I feel a reverent wonder about nature.” - Kensunwalker

QUOTES 2/22/2017

“The only fly in the suncream . . . is that many textiles still get agitated when confronted with the human body.  For although there is arguably a greater acreage of flesh visible in the west today, on our screens and our beaches, in our clubs and our magazines, than in previous times, the reasons for its display are invariably sexual, whether directly, as in pornography, or indirectly, as in Wimbledon.  Which is why nude bathers, despite being ‘harmless’ through and through, must screen swimming pool windows and hide themselves away at the rocky end of the beach.  All of which is a constant source of puzzlement and irritation to naturists. . . ‘What you find an awful lot of the time . . . is that it's not the person complaining who is offended.  They complain because they think somebody else will be - their children, or some little old lady down the road.’” – Malcolm Boura, https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2005/mar/05/weekend7.weekend4?CMP=twt_gu

“My idea of a perfect afternoon.  No worries, no fears, no clothes.  Live life naked!” - https://twitter.com/ohionaturist/status/767735354392649728

“One time in a national park I wasn’t quick enough to get pants on, car drove by and stopped at nearby table n chairs.  She came over to borrow a kettle to boil up for morning tea and gave me a piece of cake when they returned it.  She did mention she had seen me naked but wasn’t worried/upset about it.” – Harley, https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=956&idt=105510&page=last

“Three weeks ago I did something that I had been wanting to do for years; I took part in a World Naked Bike Ride. . . when naked outside, it becomes easy to forget that you are nude and become comfortable with your nudity.  It becomes incidental to the activity in hand, and that was true when riding through some of the busiest streets in London wearing nothing.  It felt natural. . . I would love to do it again.  It was easily one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had . . . There are UK naked bike rides at over ten cities and over seventy cities around the world.  And I am exploring the possibility of a naked bike ride and picnic in the Cheshire countryside later this year or early next year!” – John Harding, https://clothesfreelife.com/2016/07/31/wnbr-manchester-guest-contributor-john-harding/

“Learning to love your naked self, doesn’t have to mean you happy with how you look.  It’s a love and appreciation for all your body does for you.  All the times it holds you up, when you knock it down.  For keeping going, when all you do is heap stress on it and don’t feed it the right foods.  Once you learn to love your naked self you will find it much easy to take better care of it, because in the end we look after those we truly love.  So spend some time with your naked self and start learning to love your naked body.” – Fit Bunny, https://fitjools.wordpress.com/2016/07/18/do-you-love-your-naked-body/

“Naked sport is booming in the sizzling summer heatwave - and what better way is there to enjoy the outdoors than in the buff?  Some of the more adventurous nudists took part in a clothes-free parachute jump that took place over the Baltic island of Usedom earlier this month.  And for tourists preferring more traditional sports, the nudist resort of ‘La Jenny’ on the French Atlantic coast claims it has opened up the world’s first and only naked golf course.” – Nicole G.

“Promoting public naked as an acceptable choice for all requires naked people to be out in public so often that it becomes common and unremarkable by the public.  So my goal for this year is to practice what I preach by getting seen naked while doing normal every day activities.” – Bob Knows, http://freerangenaturism.com/forum/index.php?topic=32.135;topicseen

“. . . the terms naturist and nudist.  What is the difference? . . . in America they are used pretty interchangeably but . . . nudism is simply taking your clothes off once in a while meanwhile naturism is not only a lifestyle it is also of philosophy based completely on respect.  Respect for others, respect for yourself, and respect for the environment. . . Naturism is the lifestyle and philosophy of being naked whenever possible to better learn to respect yourself, others, and the environment.  Naturism tends to reverse problems caused by clothing and society such as vitamin D deficiencies and warped perceptions of the human body.” - https://naturistgamingexperimentation.wordpress.com/2016/07/29/here-is-an-essay-on-naturism-i-wrote-for-school/

“My first moment of public nakedness came on Day 1 aboard a sailboat, when I was going snorkeling . . .  slowly, one by one, other women started taking off their tops too.  I saw all their breasts; brown, pale, saggy, impossibly perky.  Mine were definitely the smallest.  In that moment, though, it didn't matter.  We jumped into the ocean, and swam.  By the time we climbed out, it felt like we'd all become close friends.  Nakedness, I found, forges female friendship quickly. . . I went with one of the other writers to sunbathe naked.  We talked and bonded easily, nude.  It was awesome, like this whole level of competition or reserve had been stripped away, right along with our clothes.  Everyone was flawed and lovely, and everyone had something to offer.” – Rachel Krantz, http://www.bustle.com/articles/161285-i-was-naked-in-front-of-strangers-for-4-days-heres-what-happened?platform=hootsuite

QUOTES 2/20/2017

“The pleasure for me comes from driving totally naked, which I do often on long trips . . . I always keep light tan, wide leg shorts on the passenger seat which I can slip on in about two seconds, and flip-flops in the passenger floor well.  On four lane highways, I'll momentarily place the shorts on my lap for a passing vehicle during the day.  Someone looking down into the car sees me ‘wearing’ shorts.  I've actually driven all the way through metropolises that way, but it gets a little cumbersome in heavy traffic.  When I'm with other naked passengers, we figure out some other strategy. . . Never had a problem, and have never covered up. . . Driving naked is a sensuous experience.  Very relaxing and refreshing, if done carefully.” – Al

“There are about 4, 500 babies that are mercilessly murdered by abortion every day in the US alone.  Of those 4, 500 mothers and fathers who abort (read kill) their babies, close to 70% claim Christianity as their religion . . . Another sad statistic . . . is that well over 60% of all so-called Christian marriages end in divorce.  That is a lot of marriages and families that have been aborted.  Yes, the religion of Christianity is very broken - just look at the carnage. . . There is a cure, a surefire cure, for the horrendous destruction of human life, whether it is through the death of divorce or abortion and the cure is so simple it makes you laugh - literally.  Why?  Because God designed us this way and our lives are meant to be fun and full of joy.  What is it?  It’s so simple that it seems crazy, but the answer is literally to just take your clothes off and live as God intended, naked and without shame. . . ‘Show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works.’  What is my work?  I get naked without shame before God and man.  That is the ‘work’ of faith!  How easy and cool is that?  Yes, for sure, we are saved and kept by grace, but it is by the ‘work’ and faith of standing naked and unashamed, that we grow in Christ.” - Roland Smith

“My favorite freehike east of El Paso is the Center Hill Hike (my name).  It starts just south of the Pole Line Road, and heads west towards a lonely hill surrounded by flat desert land.  The vegetation along the way is typically El Paso, with lots of greasewood and a few yucca cactus.  The dirt road ends at the south end of the hill, and it’s an easy, sloping hike to the summit from that point.  There are many different cactus plants to enjoy on the way to the top, where a wonderful 360-degree view greets you.  You can see El Paso in the distance.  The breezes feel wonderful as they cool the sweat from your naked body.  It’s a great place to thank God for the surrounding beauty.  This is why I love freehiking.” – Kenfreehiker

“I am naked almost all the time I am home.  I haven't worn pjs since I was 14 and I don't dress in the morning unless I'm going out.  When I get home, the clothes come off.  If the doorbell rings, I check who is there through the peep hole and most times I don't cover up before opening the door.  There is a sign saying "CLOTHING OPTIONAL PAST THIS POINT" beside the front door and hooks inside for those who care to join me to hang their clothes on.  Some of my callers undress and some don't, but most of them know I am a home nudist and just act naturally either clothed or naked.” – phph

"The day that being a nudist ‘clicked’ for me was my first time I was nude in front of people other than my boyfriend.  We were invited to visit another on-line nudist chat couple.  That particular weekend they had their three children, another couple with a child and a single male, younger than us.  We went with another couple we had just met a few days earlier, that were also nudists.  It was a nice day and we were having a BBQ in their yard and home.  Since I had never done anything like this before I walked around with a huge towel wrapped around me until I got to the hot tub.  While sitting in the tub I noticed that everyone was sitting around (in the nude) and were visiting with everyone, and no one was looking at the new nude person.  It finally clicked and I learned to relax, and talked to everyone there to find out more information.  It was so great.  I have never looked back from then." – OddButerfly

And it's more fun - but mainly because you're naked.” – Blue Train

“Many societies now encourage naturism within families and socially as part of their health and recreational practices.” – Kensunwalker
QUOTES 2/18/2017

“Naturism is spiritual – Historically, religion and nudity go together.  Christians believe God created mankind naked and unashamed, walking naked in the Garden of Eden.  Other religions also treated nudity positively.  Nudity has been key to spirituality throughout the ages from Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten and his wife Nefertiti, through the early Indian religious Jane and Jewish prophets, like Isaiah, Christ entering Jerusalem and administering the washing of feet, original baptism ceremonies, groups of Adamite Christians in northern Africa and southern Europe, to current Naturist Christians and other religious groups.  Treated in the right way, naturism should be about quiet, prayerful, thankful reflection and humility before God.  A spiritual gathering of like-minded naturists can be very moving.  Little can compare spiritually to walking nude through a forest, jumping rocks by a stream, or hiking across a mountain pass as the wind embraces the entire body - at one with nature and God.  Religion should embrace all Truth and naturism is closely associated with the Truth as has been discussed.  However, in opposition to this Puritanism and related dogma have infused society with hypocritical ideals, treating the body as pornographic (perpetuating Satan’s original lie), and in the process creating cultural, fanatic groups which treat normal nudity as sinful.  Modern society often reacts inappropriately, treating religion generally with skepticism or even hostility.  Judge mentalism abounds on both sides.  As a result, helping and caring and giving and service of all types suffers.  Single-minded fanaticism like this is always FALSE, and may even be dangerous.” - Ken

“Nudists can change this by not hiding behind a fence . . . Be more open about their lifestyle choice, be willing to defend that choice and be tolerant towards other people that don’t care about your choice, but don’t want to, or haven’t yet made the same choice.  This means that mingling clothes-free and clothed people should be more promoted and encouraged.” – William Scuby, https://clothesfreelife.com/2014/02/18/a-house-divided-cannot-stand-whats-happening-to-the-clothes-free-community/

“I recently discovered’ a loop trail about a quarter mile from the house that would be perfect for an after dark naked bike ride or naked hike.  I say I ‘discovered’ it because I have known about it for several years but since it basically runs through a 20-mile field I never even considered it to take a hike given how close the mountains are to our house.  That trail first caught my attention a couple months ago when I was coming home late on a full moon night when I thought ‘Now THAT would be a great trail to hike naked at night.’” - Kenfreehiker

QUOTES 2/17/2017

“When I was young and started to read Playboy magazine and saw the pictures of the famous Grotto, I thought that looked like fun.  Swimming naked.  I said to myself, I am going to have a pool like this, and skinny-dip at home.  When I was watching a house one day for a neighbor, the house had a pool and I was by myself, so off with the shorts and for about 10 minutes, I skinny-dipped for the first time.  It was great.  Finally, in 1999, I bought a house with a pool.  Felt just as great as the first time.  There were other times, like me and a girlfriend skinny-dipping late night at my apartment swimming pool.  But nothing like it at home.  And the next house was the same, but the backyard was very open so I had to do it late night because of the elderly neighbor.” - TCE, Texas, http://aanr.com/first-time-nudist-experience&page=40

“Wife and I enjoy naked evening bike rides on a trail that goes 10 miles to a small town.  We stop at the restaurant enjoy supper and ride back naked.  We rarely see one else after dark.  Once we put our shirts on to cross the one road the trail crosses and just before we took them off we noticed a group of 7 riders coming so we just stood there till they passed.  As they passed we could briefly tell in our lights that they were naked.  What fun!” – SunnMaxx, https://www.truenudists.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=85735&page=1

“I love being naked while I sleep and find it more restful.  I always sleep well but feel I sink more deeply into my body during sleep when I'm naked . . . I wake up more embodied.” – Isis, http://mic.com/articles/124242/6-reasons-you-love-being-naked-from-the-people-who-do-it-24-7?utm_content=bufferd269b&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer#.qIWB7KIJz

“It would be rude and disrespectful to be fully clothed when embraced in the beauty of Mother Nature.” – Roy Snell, https://twitter.com/rodos1950/status/832172946009497600

“Body Acceptance.  Our culture has been brain washed by the Madison Avenue fashion experts who tell us in picture and words what a ‘perfect’ body is like.  How many times have you looked in the mirror and thought disparagingly at your body?  Not enough muscle, undefined abs, too little breast, wide hips, or not enough hair, and so it goes.  Naturism puts you in touch with your body and you see that others are ‘just like you.’  Plus, you realize that the ‘super models’ in life are really not that pretty nude and the magazine ‘centerfolds’ are definitely airbrushed.  Bottom line: you realize it doesn’t matter what you look like.” - Pastor Jeffery Bowman, https://lazeruslong.wordpress.com/2015/11/02/body-acceptance/

Nude Cruise

Amy and I just returned from a nude cruise in the Caribbean (Feb. 4-14, 2017), which left from Tampa, FL, and stopped at Key West, Half-Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and the Dominican Republic.  I’m ‘not’ going to write a blow-by-blow daily account of the cruise – just know it was amazing.  Instead, I’d like to share a few observations:

- It felt so comfortable being naked everywhere on the boat, with everyone dressed or not.  The boat workers were totally cool with us naked folk, and many said they wished they could join us, and most people on the islands were fine as well.

Looking through the cruise directory, I noticed that there were naturists on board from nearly everywhere.  One couple we met lived only a half hour away from our home (we didn’t know them before and they didn’t know about our non-landed club in the area), but this couple still worked and didn’t want anyone to know they cruised nude.

-The first day few people got nude.  The second day was different (maybe 90% were nude).  Throughout the cruise I noticed that most were nude when sunning on the deck, but few were nude at night or at activities.  Why do “naturists” dress during these times?

We were naked on three beaches to places we cruised – Half-Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and the Dominican Republic.  Swimsuits suck!  Naked - wow!

We didn't see any overt sexual activity on the cruise.  This is a great way to introduce someone to naturism.

There’s so much more to share, but maybe these following photos will be enough:
