QUOTES 5/31/2019

“We were sunbathing in the garden . . . one late afternoon when a neighbor appeared over the hedge, which came as a great surprise to all three of us.  He'd decided to trim the hedge, and we said ‘hello Ted’.  A short conversation followed about the weather and how we all were and it was all very convivial.  Our nudity was not mentioned and we felt no need to explain being naked.  We certainly have no problems with him seeing us, as it is how we live and clearly he is not embarrassed.  Recently, I was in the garden filling the bird feeders and there he was again.  Another long chat ensued.  We are lucky, but all three sets of neighbors know we are naturists and we just hope they don't move away!” – RobB, http://www.naturist-corner.net/community/index.php?topic=18887.25;topicseen

“. . . we decided that we would buy us a pool this year.  After the financing of our huge 15' round by 3' deep pool (100 dollars, Big Lots special), we realized it was going to be a wonderful summer.  Labor Day weekend was the kickoff.  Our friends . . . Pioneer, his wife and 2 kids came up and we had our inaugural soak for the length of the three-day weekend.  It was fantastic.  But so as to make it complete, we did do clothed activities as well. . . we were naked at least the majority of the afternoons this summer . . . the best money we spent was on that hundred-dollar pool.” – Kevin

“. . . we continue to be an ‘incidentally nude’ family.  My now almost 13-year-old daughter is growing up seeing her parents nude almost every day, and she seems to have no hesitation to be nude around the house.  So I think we are teaching her that you don't have to ALWAYS wear clothes, sometimes being naked is OK.” – Jensenj, http://www.clothesfreeforum.com/forum/naturist-rooms/fun-of-nude-recreation/548434-what-is-up-no-one-talking-post-something

“We are in the second decade of the 21st Century and things are starting to change . . . The idea of being naked on a beach isn't the shocking, eyebrow-raising dinner party subject that it used to be.  There's a lot of that old fashioned attitude still around, but you just have to keep chipping away.  The principle thrust behind [Septembare] is that we want the world to know that naturism is something they should consider as a good thing, not as a bad thing.  What we are doing is good and healthy.” – Andrew Welch, http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/skinny-dipping-london-septembare-british-naturism

QUOTES 5/30/2019

“Well the dictionary defines Naturist as ‘a person who believes people should not have to wear cloths.’ . . . To me being naked is much more, it’s feeling free, it’s being open and honest, it’s being at one with nature and the world. . . The best way I can explain it is to take you to a beach or a club, let me know if you fancy it.” – Kipper, http://www.naturist-corner.net/community/index.php?topic=21872.0;topicseen

“The naturists were the first social sunbathers, the first to turn what had been a medical necessity (to cure tuberculosis or combat rickets) into a way of life.  Before about 1930, there was no real distinction between ‘sunbather’ and ‘nudist’. . . The nudists were devoted to healthy living and the great outdoors, and were simply sunbathers with attitude, fighting for things we now take for granted in our relationship with the Sun.” - Robert Mighall

“To be ashamed of one’s body is to be ashamed of being human.  Some bodies may be prettier than others, but that is also true of our faces and we don’t tell people to put a bag over their heads! . . . When I am naked among other people the only message is, ‘This is me.’” – Andy, http://www.nakedwanderings.com/2016/11/24/naturist-talks-andy-usa/

“I use to set on my front porch and smoke and have coffee and my neighbor would drive by and we would wave at each other and we were close friends . . . [I] invited him to go to the nudist resort with us and he said he would like to and my other neighbor saw me nude more than he saw me with clothes on he even brought his girlfriend in the house one afternoon and I was nude I told her I was a nudist and asked if she had a problem with nudity and she said no so most of my neighbors knew we were nudist!” – Specialk and queen ruthie, https://www.truenudists.com/group/everyday-naked-living-revamped/2/103301/

“We are taught that the female nipple is dirty, x-rated.  That if we slip a bit of nip we are being provocative or disrespectful.  But what is so provocative or disrespectful about something that has ensured the survival of the human race for aeons?  Without the female nipple we would not be here today . . . But we live in a society within which breasts are hyper-sexualized and their function is forgotten.  We use breasts to sell everything from phones to diets, whilst breastfeeding in public is reproached. . . However, in reality, breasts are not there to be perky, they are there to feed young and sustain life. . . We’ve created a world where breasts are sexualized to the point that their simple exposure is seen as sexual, as opposed to natural and beautiful. . . If women are able to vote, lead nations and go to space, why on earth must they hide their nipples?  Exposure of the male nipple, which is the vestigial twin of the female nipple, has not caused the world to burst into flames, so why are we so afraid that women’s nipples might?” – Emily-Jane Cramphorn, http://felixonline.co.uk/comment/6349/free-the-nipple-and-me/

“On the way back from Colorado, I and one other friend stopped to visit our nude hiking buddy who has a wonderfully private farm in eastern Kansas.  We swam in his unbelievably warm pond and hiked the trails both on his property and in a nature preserve nearby.  One day we (along with two friends of the host) rented a party-barge for skinny-dipping in a nearby lake.  We topped the visit off with a 12-mile nude bike ride on a rails-to-trails path alongside a river.  Glorious!” – Milt, Skinny Trippers email

“On the other hand, we are hypersensitive to show nipples, pubic hair and penises.  When these are marginal extensions to what we openly admire and promote for the benefit of our pockets.  Contrast this very sick distorted position where we violently condemn other cultures and tradition for covering up the body, based on their own system of beliefs.  This can only be likened to either a raving lunatic or the most ignoramus of fools, trying to find traction and legitimacy in delusion and egoic foolery.  Live open, live events free, include the freedom to even be clothless.” – Maho Shing, https://www.facebook.com/attn/videos/1243458525689604/

“Lyndon B. Johnson . . . frequently invited . . . [visitors] for a swim, bulling them if they showed a reluctance to be seen naked.  One visitor was the Reverand Billy Graham, who happily joined the president in the water.” - Philip Carr-Gomm, A Brief History of Nakedness, 2013, p. 146

“Raised in the Midwest, I never thought ditching your clothes in public could be an enjoyable pastime.  Truthfully, I was never aware it was even an option.  I had no preconceived notions or expectations about nudism.” – Charlotte, https://ourclothingoptionaltrips.wordpress.com/2017/01/22/our-bodies-tell-stories-how-one-woman-embraced-her-lifes-journey-through-nudism/

“Nudism/naturism is about feeling comfortable in one’s own bare skin (aka positive body image), enjoying the freedom of being clothes free, feeling one with nature and being the way we were meant to be naturally (the way we are born).  Good examples are nude sunbathing, swimming, hiking, relaxing or many activities in a social context . . . Exhibitionism is about exposing the body’s more private parts, often just those (not completely naked) for a short amount of time usually, for the thrill, for the excitement of said person and/or other people, like streaking and public flashing are good examples of it.  Even though the logic behind these two are clearly different, many times people think they are very similar or even the same. . . with some reasonable thinking, anybody can understand the vast difference between the two.  Whoever doesn’t see the contrast is simply ignorant.” - https://thanakedi.wordpress.com/2017/01/11/nudism-vs-exhibitionism/

“Welcome to Rock Lodge Club” Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyydnT7-fq4

“Many couples practice nudism together.  However, there are couples where one member is a nudist but the other is reluctant (or outright hostile) to the idea.  Time and again, the best course of action has been to be honest and open about your desire to be a nudist.  Over time, your partner will agree to your participation. . . Don’t force the issue with your reluctant spouse or significant other.  The worst thing you could do is to try to ‘persuade’ him/her to join you.  Remember that their reluctance is probably based on fear.  Logic won’t work, so don’t try to argue them to a nudist event with you.  It only pushes them farther away from accepting it and causes them to build up a wall against it.  Be available to answer questions and concerns without telling them they ‘should go with you to find out’. . . Leave nudist magazines where they can peruse them when you are away and they can feel comfortable that you won’t see them and grill them about the subject.  Over time, they will read the articles and see the pictures and become more comfortable with the idea.  At some point, probably to your great surprise, they will suggest they join you at a resort or event.  Realize this is them cracking the door open a tiny bit to try to understand it and experience it a little.  Don’t take this as them throwing the door wide open for you to drag them into a full-fledged nudist lifestyle.  You should be happy that they are willing to join you, but temper your enthusiasm.  Allow them to set the pace. Allow them to determine when and where their first experience will be. . . the three things that win over a reluctant significant other are honesty, patience, and understanding.” - The Heartland Naturists of Kansas City, http://arizonavichi.tumblr.com/

“I love hiking nude in the woods, but also in the desert, the mountains, and any place where quietness can be found.  There is something special about being nude in nature!  It is a feeling of connection with our origins, allowing us to feel part of nature and the planet.  We can become the specie that we are, yet have forgotten in our busy city lives.” – Angel, https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=132&idt=106280&page=last

QUOTES 5/26/2019

“The American nudist movement began with a group of German immigrants lead by Kurt Barthel, often acknowledged as ‘the father of the modern United States nudist movement.’  He began the American League for Physical Culture (ALPC) in 1929 and was instrumental in organizing the first American nudist outing that was held on Labor Day in 1929.  Seven people attended, three women and four men, all but one of whom were between the ages of 20 and 27.  The Labor Day outing was held on farmland in the Hudson Highlands in upstate New York.  Later members of Barthel’s American League for Physical Culture visited leased farms in Westchester County, New York during the summer months and sometimes participated in gymnastics and nude swimming in rented urban gymnasiums and pools in winter.  In May 1932, Barthel founded Sky Farm, America’s first nudist club, in New Jersey. . . Dutch Reformed Pastor Ilsley Boone joined the ALPC in July 1931 after reading the book Among the Nudists.  Boone was elected vice president of the ALPC in 1931, but by October 1931 became president.  In late 1931, Boone and two other ALPC members created a new organization they named the International Nudist League (INL).  After several years, INL changed its name to the American Sunbathing Association (ASA) when Boone took sole control over the organization. . . In 1993, recognizing that more people outside than inside the organization were nudists, the American Sunbathing Association changed its name to American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR).” - Larry Darter, http://www.examiner.com/article/newbies-guide-to-nudism-the-history-of-contemporary-nudism

“I learnt for the first time what it was not just to be amongst nature, but to be part of it. . . While the climate of Scotland could be harsh, I realized there would always be days when nature welcomed me, when clothes, maybe even boots might not be needed.” – Richard Foley, http://pub.rfi.net/too-close-to-nature/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

“I slip out of the tent as quietly as possible so as not to wake the rest of the family.  As I stir the ashes of last night’s campfire a small flame takes hold and I add a few dry twigs to the flame to ward off the morning chill while I marvel at the beauty around me.  The morning mist still hangs heavy and drops of dew fall from the trees splashing on my bare shoulder, only then do I realize that I am totally naked in natures beauty. . . As I look around, the rest of the camp is starting to stir.  Soon the smell of coffee fills the air and the clatter of pots and pans signals that breakfast is underway at many campsites.  My own family is starting to stir and I watch as the kids slowly ease from their slumber.  One by one they emerge from the tent, naked and rested. . . A gentle hand on my shoulder causes me to turn from watching the kids as now my wife stands beside me taking in the morning glory.  She flips her sleep tossed hair back from her naked shoulders and laughs that she too needs to keep the sunscreen handy today.  Now it really hits me, it’s Sunday morning and the kids aren’t fighting over the remote, the TV isn’t blaring, the garbage doesn’t need to be taken out, and best of all my cell phone isn’t ringing.  Yes, we really have found a little piece of paradise right here.  I almost can’t believe that I’ve spent the entire weekend naked and free. . . What a great time we’ve had.  We’ve made new friends, gotten closer together as a family, found out you really can survive without high speed internet and best of all mother nature really does have a great front porch.  Will we be back?  YOU BET!  In fact, the kids are already asking when they can come back to what they now call the NEKID CAMP.” – Bare Campers

“I made the decision to fly to the other end of the world, live on an island, get naked and show the public the pure substance of Leo.  Finally, be allowed to be who I am. . . This is my act of liberation. . . Being naked for a while and clearing myself from all limiting clothes, things and thoughts was such a very valuable experience. . .  living an original life, sleeping outside, cooking on fire, swimming in the ocean everyday, not knowing what time it is, inhaling the sunset, waking at sunrise, smelling your own body odor (not because you stink but because it changes when you let your skin breathe), literally dancing naked in the rain, was such an intense journey. . . For you it is just another TV show, but for me it was so much more. . . I always stayed true to myself, through my weak and my strong moments, through the challenges, the laughter, the talks and the music. . . “I've never had a problem wandering about the house naked in front of our two daughters, my rational was, as they get older the perceived myth of what a naked guy looks like will simply not be an issue. . . My 15-year-old daughter came into the kitchen last week, where I was fetching a can of beer from the fridge, and said her now standard, 'eww Dad, will you please put some clothes on!' which got me thinking.  What has actually changed?  OK I've added a bit of weight and I'm slightly greyer than I used to be but in reality the only thing that's changed over the years is that she has grown up and is now aware that the naked body has more connotations.  So if anything I think I will continue to be naked (except when their friends visit) and hopefully they will continue to grow realizing that nudity isn't a sexual thing it's just simply, nudity.” – DnD, http://www.naturist-corner.net/community/index.php?topic=21395.25

On Saturday 5/18/2019 five meetup members attended a home event at Ken and Amy's beautiful place. They visited on the front deck, ate some salad, walked the Meditation and Nature Trail, watered the garden, soaked in the spa, and played corn hole and croquet.  Naked is the best way to socialize.  The weather was great for this early spring event.  Fun was had by all.  Hopefully others will attend in the future.
