QUOTES 11/30/2017

“Saturday [October 21, 2011] we picked up naturist friends (Larry, Kitty, and Lee) at the airport and drove north to Sunsport Gardens, a small nudist resort owned by Morley Schafer, where we enjoyed walking the jungle-like trails, soaking in the pool, and sunning.  At Sunsport we met several new naked friends including Ed and Susan.  Naturists always amaze me with their openness and willingness to share.  Friday night we attended the resort’s nude dance.  It was a fun, small crowd.  We left early for a restful nude sleep.  Sunsport’s cabins are perfect for a relaxing nakation.  The resort has a very nice lake with kayaks and other facilities like tennis courts.  The vegetation and flowers were spectacular.  It had a Garden-of-Eden feel.” – Kenfreehiker

“Except when hiking in very remote and little-used areas, I usually carry a pair of shorts in my hand as I walk.  When I get wind of textiles approaching, I turn around (since buttocks are seen as somehow less offensive than genitals) and quickly slip on my shorts.  This is easy enough for me since I hike in sport sandals rather than heavy boots, but loose-fitting shorts should even work with boots.  Most times when I'm hiking alone, I am fast enough that the approaching textiles don't realize that I was nude, but even if they do realize it, they don't react strongly and respond appropriately when I turn back around and give them a cheery hello.  Whatever may have been ‘wrong’ in their minds has been quickly ‘righted’ and they are not terribly offended.” – Milt

“I've driven in a car for 30+ miles bottomless while my wife sitting next to me was completely nude as was her older sister in the back seat.  When we got home we all got out and very casually walked inside our house after chatting for a bit outside in the front yard (it was mostly dark out) without even covering up and of course we stayed nude once inside.  Driving nude, either partially or completely, is awesome!” – EP User

“Around 1996 we moved into our house in the country. . . We had a neighbor only on one side and we could come out the back door and sun bathe nude, but we could never venture more than a couple steps from the back door. . . Eventually we made our first big purchase and bought a hot tub.  If we were quick and careful we could go out nude . . . As years went by we were not satisfied with that and needed more than these few square feet to be nude in.  In addition to that we wanted a pool and did not want to wear a suite.  We planted fast growing hedges and built privacy fencing from rough sawn hemlock from a local saw mill.  Over the course of a couple years we were able to become perfectly private from the road and our neighbor.  We now have a large deck, hot tub, pool, horse shoe pits, bocci, and volley ball, and we use them all nude.  We garden and mow the lawn in the buff.  Soon I will be starting to build the pentaque court (ever nudist place needs one).  We love our yard it’s our very own naturist park!  We love having our nudist friends over and enjoying all it has to offer and some great food!” - Eric

QUOTES 11/29/2017

“We are surrounded by and constantly immersed in a culture where nudity is something to be feared or sexually pleasured by.  The idea of fat shaming runs rampant, woman are told that if they expose themselves they are sluts and just looking for attention.  We are constantly taught, subjected to and indoctrinated that nudity is bad and it equals sex. . . I am convinced more and more that this is not how God would have had it but it is a lie of the devil who has created a world where these things are programmed essentially from birth to be this way.  I cannot believe that God would have us believe such things and live in such a way as to equate nudity with sex and thus we should fear and be ashamed of it.  It just does not make sense. . . we know that Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, they were created naked.  God walked with them in the garden while they were naked.  They were naked together and it was not immodest. . . Adam and Eve were not ashamed of their nakedness.  They were naked together before becoming man and wife . . . God did not tell them they were naked nor did he teach them such things were wrong or immodest, Adam and Eve made clothing only after being tempted by the devil.” – Andrew, https://gospelperspective.wordpress.com/2015/09/14/what-is-wrong-with-nudity/

"I've done a few hikes where I never needed to put on shorts, door to door (car door that is), the entire time of the hike, the longest being perhaps eight hours.  But that was a matter of luck.  I expect to need the shorts now and then, which of course is why they're there, and having to put them on doesn't spoil anything.  I've given up trying to reach any sort of goals of time, distance, or staying nude, mostly.  Even so, I can think of a few places where I don't think I would ever need the shorts, though there can be surprises.  On one of those all-nude hikes, I still had the shorts and they eventually went into the pack, same with another hike.” – Blue Train

“Healthy eating and exercise, along with mental and spiritual health, were essential to early naturist practice.  What happened?  It’s as if when people took off their clothes they forgot why.  Originally, it was for physical and mental health.  It’s time to bring healthy living back to naturism.” - Kenfreehiker

“So where would I suggest that you start cultivating your new naturist lifestyle?  Why, at home of course! . . . I only started freeing my clothes-imprisoned body more frequently earlier this year.  What brought this about was a simple activity, an activity so simple you can literally do it in your sleep – sleeping naked. . . I just got a sudden urge to strip off my usual nightwear – a pair of underwear and shirt. . . Then I repeated this the next night, then the night after that, and the night after that, etc. . . . I have rarely spent a night clothed since that liberating spring night earlier this year,  I just haven’t looked back since.  To be honest I can’t stand to wear clothes in bed any more, for two reasons; one, I found that if I tried to wear light wear like shirt and underwear I become too hot and I can’t sleep because of that, such is the extent to how my body has become conditioned to sleeping naked.  And two, my naked body has become so conditioned to being free under the bedsheets that wearing of clothes just ‘tangle’ me up (for want of a better term), making me uncomfortable and therefore causes me to lose sleep. . . if you want one valuable piece of advice from me on how to take those first tentative steps on your naked odyssey – sleep naked.  It’s simple, it’s effective and I promise you, you will not be disappointed . . . Once you have your body and mind conditioned to the joys and benefits of being nude, you’ll soon start looking towards expanding your naturist experience into the other parts of life, i.e. visiting nude beaches, meeting up with fellow naturists, going on nude hikes, etc. There are numerous possibilities to explore.” – PG, https://naturistsjournal.wordpress.com/2015/11/13/first-step/

Magic Circle

Amy and I spent the three days following Thanksgiving (11/24-26/17) running naked with friends in the desert.  We were celebrating our second naked wedding commitment ceremony at the Magic Circle.  You need to visit if you’ve never been there.  The Magic Circle is a special camping spot south of Quartzite, AZ.  Sure, it’s dusty and rocky, with desert vegetation, but for a low fee naturists can legally camp and run around naked on BLM land.   There’s no place quit like it.  We hiked the newly expanded trails (nude of course), stopping to talk with other naturists, relaxed naked in the warm desert sun, enjoyed the company of naked friends, and took in the views of the place we’d committed to be married.  For a break we drove into town and ate at Silly Al’s pizza place, and at a fast food establishment (unfortunately clothed).  But back at camp we basically forgot we were unclothed with friends.  During January the entire town of Quartzite turns into a giant yard sale (with over 1.5 million campers) and has the largest rock show in the world.  I think we’ll visit in January, but will certainly camp naked with friends in the desert at the Magic Circle.  Anyone interested in joining us?

“Call it what you want: nudie, birthday suit, bare, un-clothed, in the buff… however you say it, it’s factual- we were all born naked!  So naturally, it makes sense why our little ones prefer to run around sans clothing. . . it’s just natural to want to be naked; so why should we put a stop to something as innocent and natural as wanting a little naked time? . . . why are adults so divided when it comes down to accepting, or not accepting, a child’s love of being nude? . . . Is it because of the culture we live in?  Perhaps it’s our parent’s influence that has something to do with the way we view nudity. . .There’s a time and a place for children to run naked.  However we view it, we know that someone else views it differently, and all views should be respected.” – Melanie Denney, http://www.everydayfamily.com/naked-time-why-do-kids-love-it/?pg=1&internallink=naked-time-why-do-kids-love-it#post-1226

“I like nude camping.  I use a small tent and minimum amount of gear to help keep the primitive feel to it.  If in a public campground, I camp away from others and get nude after dark.  At clothes optional camps I stay nude the whole time there - often for days.  Such a free feeling being naked - people don't realize how uncomfortable clothing really is.” – Creekgeek, https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=132&idt=53785&vpage=1

“When I must wear clothes, I find that a badge or T-shirt with a naked-friendly message can be an easy way to ‘come out’ as a nudist and creates opportunities to explain my views on body freedom and acceptance.  It often leads to questions such as, ‘why aren’t you naked now?’ which, if the circumstance is right, may be followed by an invitation to escape from my clothing.  I seldom need to be asked twice.” - http://centauri4-naturism.tumblr.com/post/84236340516/i-have-no-private-parts-when-i-must-wear

“I just got home from another 200-mile nude trip on the interstate.  That is a total of 600 miles in the last two weeks of nude driving.  It is so much more comfortable on long trips.  Free from the restrictions of clothing.  No itching.  I try to look at other drivers to see if anyone else may be nude, but I haven't seen anyone that I suspect would be nude.  It is also very difficult to see inside another car when going 80 mph down the interstate.  I have noticed that no one is looking around while they drive.  So, I will only cover up if it looks like I will be slowly passing someone else.  As long as you don't linger beside another vehicle, chances are that you won't be noticed.” – JR, https://www.truenudists.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=860&page=21

“Our good friend Joanne came to see us yesterday. . . what made me smile was the fact that both my wife and I were naked, Joanne stayed dressed because quite simply she is not a naturist. . . She comes to us on odd occasions just to 'chatter' and talk over so many topics and relate news about her family and her new grandson.  The fact that we were (and quite usually are) naked makes no difference to Joanne . . . she commented on the fact that people come and visit us with little or no comment about our nakedness, but people who see her are always making comments about sex and sexual activity.  At the end of quite a lengthy chat she came to some agreement with us that ‘naked isn't actually sexy!’ but dressing in a provocative manner which highlights but yet hides the sexual tones of her body, is potentially quite dangerous to her. . . I think that in our own little but effective way, we are slowly changing the 'accepted' attitudes towards naturists/naturism.  We are by just being ourselves getting social nudity back into mainstream daily life.  Many who come to our home don't actually notice weather we are dressed or naked!  The only comment I ever get is when someone I know meets up with me in a very different location and they just don't (at first) recognize me clothed.  They come out with that classic line, ‘I didn't recognize you with your clothes on!’” – Patrick Thompson, http://www.naktiv.net/blog/967/dressed-ingognito/

“From my experience, it is easier to engage in an eye-to-eye conversation in a nudist environment than it is with people wearing clothes or swimsuits.  This helps alleviate the fear of getting caught glancing at the more intimate areas.  Nudists don't find such actions offensive unless you are caught full-on gawking.  If you feel this may be a problem your first time, just wear a pair of sunglasses.  You will soon learn to adapt because, after a few minutes, your brain no longer notices.” – Melody, http://femalenaturist.blogspot.com/search/label/Nude%20Recreation%20From%20A%20Woman%27s%20Perspective

“My girlfriend is very happy to get out of her short sundress.  It goes on and off quick like a sack.  The idea is to stay naked.  She drapes it over her shoulders and pins it on with shoulder straps from water bottles or camera bag to protect her from the sun and strap tan lines wrecking her great all over tan.  You might consider just grinning and bare it.  Most people in remote situations don’t mind . . . Most hikers and bikers mostly look at their footing or front tire placement.  Many, many times, I have watched people go by, as I stand quietly just off the trail. . . I hear, or see others nearly always, before they see me, especially when hiking nude.  There is a greater sense of liberation when one is bare and no cover-up.  Baring oneself is a good advertisement for nudity. Just stay naked and justify it as educating the public . . . They need to get used to it.” – Jbeegoode, http://freerangenaturism.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=055f0535afdecf562fdd98338a579f8e&topic=6.0

“I towel dried my hair and sans clothes . . . For some reason on this particular day . . . I decided to practice yoga without clothes. . . The impulse for movement arose that lead me into a simple cat-and-cow movement on my hands and knees – arching and flexing my spine with each inhale and exhale – eyes closed.  I stretched my way back into downward-facing dog. . . I began a simple sun salute, moving through the familiar poses on my mat. . . I experienced for the first time what I would call yoga. . . To say that this happenstance experience, naked in my living room was the first time I experienced yoga was absurd to me.  However, the moment it happened I knew.  Anything I thought was yoga before was now off the table.  It was a moment that I can only explain as that of a very complicated lock that had been stuck for many years lining up and suddenly cracking open to reveal a secret portal to oneness. . . Shame, self-loathing, pride, judgment all rose to the surface and dissolved and my spirit in this moment transformed . . . My soul rested happily in this place.   For the next hour on my mat I was yoga. . . nudity both electrified and intensified my experience of yoga.  The moment was a total shock – naked in my living room, on my mat, I merged into that divine union we all seek.  It was perhaps one of the first times I had ever existed in my body consciously without judgment and was able to witness the miracle of creation and even the simple delight of even having a body. . . The experience was both transcendental and embodied, both sacred and secular.  It was the most profound practice of my life.  I arose . . . transformed. . . “While my hotel in Fuerteventura provided direct naked access to the adjacent naturist beach for my daily naked sunrise/sunset runs, I had to don my running shorts to cross the busy road to access the seemingly never-ending dunes. . . Running naked through this arid landscape was incredibly different to running along the refreshing sea: there was no water to cool my feet or lower the temperature, the cool sea breeze had been transformed into a hot, dry breeze by the scorching landscape, the foot hazards were multiplied and the undulating terrain turned it all into a hill run. . . Up close, this was stunning. . . Unfortunately, the beauty aside, this surface was not easy to run on.  It was hard and the shells would crack and break under pressure . . . After attempting barefoot for a few minutes, I returned to my running shoes and set off. . . It was more like a hilly obstacle course.  What a stunning landscape, though!  And, it would appear, there were creatures everywhere. . . It was humbling to be running in the footsteps of so many creatures, large and small – some of the unidentified prints were surprisingly large.  While I was alone, I was also one of many living things dashing across the landscape.” (Video: https://vimeo.com/140167319 ) - http://nakedmanrunning.me/2015/09/16/naked-run-6-2-fuerteventura-dunes/

“I love the sun, I love being naked, I am proud of my body and I like getting to meet other naked people.  This is the only place in London you can legally sunbathe naked.  This is a very British problem - why are we so prudish in this country?  In Germany every park has an area for naked people.  It is a human right - everyone in the country should have somewhere to sunbathe naked.” – Michael Peacock

“During our May 2010 vacation we stopped at a campground on California’s scenic Hwy 1, south of Big Sur, across the street from Sand Dollar Beach.  After setting up camp, we walked down to see the beach.  A well-maintained trail with easy stairs descends to a rocky beach.  We walked clothed (after all this is a traditionally clothed beach) to the far north end where it was sandy and far enough from the few others on the beach to get comfortable.  We enjoyed the warm sun on our bodies as we explored the cliffs and walked the sandy portion of the beach for a half hour or so before the sun began setting – it was time to dress and return.  We talked with several people on the way back who were searching the rocky shore for topaz.  We joined in and found several nice specimens – fun.  (By the way, we also found one sand dollar.)  The ocean mist slowly moved in as we left the beach.  We enjoyed a pleasant night camping naked in our tent.” - Kenfreehiker

“The freedom to be naked, day and night anywhere and everywhere is true freedom and should be experienced by all, at least once in a lifetime.” – Rupa, https://twitter.com/Rupa2105/status/793854325529337857

“When we came upon the women’s swimming pond . . . we saw the most breathtaking sight.  There were women of all ages, ethnicities, races, shapes, and sizes lying out.  Everyone was topless and some were even completely naked.  But no one was giggling nervously or slyly checking out other people’s bodies.  I got the sense that this was a form of release for many of the women.  After a few minutes of hesitation and debate, we decided to join in and timidly took off our tops.  My self-consciousness eventually gave way to an appreciation for my own body as well as everyone else’s.  Our bodies simply became part of nature and the background instead of a point of comparison or judgment.  Lying there topless for a few hours was one of the most relaxing and freeing experiences I’d ever had.” - Natalle Brown, https://spoonuniversity.com/lifestyle/how-nude-beaches-can-improve-body-image/?

“As a youth in Florida with a pool in the backyard, a privacy fence and a liberal parent, I skinny-dipped whenever the mood struck.  As an adult in the Midwest, I skinny-dip at Blue Lake Nudist Resort every warm weekend I'm able to.  There's nothing quite like the feel of the air and water on bare skin. - E Lopez, Iowa, http://www.aanr.com/best-skinny-dip-experience#content

“I’m happy to show my face.  We all have a naked self and I’m sharing mine so that I might add my voice to a quiet but swelling chorus.  One that seeks to de-stigmatize nudity and achieve a more mature understanding.  One that understands that it is not the presence or absence of clothes that determines whether or not something is sexual, but our specific actions and intent. . . what is a nudist blogger to do?  Cease posting photos?  No, the only course is to keep pushing the message and so I shall. . . I’m going to keep attesting to the innocence of nudity and hoping that people will see my photos for what they are: just of a naked man, living life in much the same way a man with clothes would.” - http://kaiagaia.tumblr.com/post/141808302674/in-our-2nd-day-we-went-to-a-new-nude-beach-for

“. . . nudism is not completely about being naked one hundred percent of the time, but it is about being comfortable in your own skin, not hiding who you really are, and accepting others at face value.  Nudism is not about being sexual, just about being natural.  There are many advantages to nudism, and the journey to becoming one is all about self-discovery.” – thisblog0, http://centauri4-naturism.tumblr.com/post/127481709376/nudism

“As far as friends and family go, most of my friends know about my lifestyle.  One lady friend thought that all women on the nude beach looked like playboy bunnies.  When I told her that I go, she said she would try it and go with me, I told her that was insulting, insinuating that I did not have a perfect body.  She eventually met her husband there.  As far as family, which is limited, my daughter told me she had gone with some friends.  I told her that I was a regular and she might run into me there.  She was astonished and she was not going then.” - Alan Bases, Holiday, FL & Bartonsville, PA, https://www.aanr.com/veterans-and-nudism&page=10

“Like all of us who weren’t naturist children and accepted the lifestyle as normal from an early age, we will all have had that ‘awkward’ first time in public while naked moment. . . Many don’t think this is true as they approach their debut, but as experienced naturists come to recognize it as fact.  We meet our naturist friends and don’t think of them as a collection of usually unseen parts.  We greet them as friends, pure and simple, and in naturism there’s a rapidly approached point where you don’t even consider them as being naked, just people.” – Trine, https://slfkk.wordpress.com/2016/06/28/dear-abby-part-2/

“I can blame my childhood church for a chunk of why I never learned to appreciate my body. . . Female bodies were something to cover and hide away from anyone’s view, even my own. . . I’d heard that my body was sinful, imperfect and inappropriate.  I hadn’t even hit puberty yet, and I was embarrassed to be seen.  But I can’t put all the onus on a church. . . It’s my own fault, too.  I put a lot of pressure on myself to be perfect, and that includes my body. . . I push my body to conform to my high standards.  For a while, I forced myself to go to the gym five times a week, regardless of how awful I felt or how much pain I was in. . . I was practically abusing myself. . . There’s nothing wrong with wanting to better yourself.  But there is something wrong with wanting to be something that isn’t yourself.  Today, I choose vulnerability.  Today, I choose me.” – Tracy Fischer, https://medium.com/@TraceOddity/naked-at-a-music-festival-30610727c4db#.jtx1qbjke

“Late yesterday afternoon I was fiddling with my hammock . . . I noticed the rising full moon and decided to take a break and go for a walk.  I sleep naked and had never bothered to get dressed so I already had everything I needed . . . The rising moon was beautiful and I walked about 45 minutes bathed in its glow. The leaves are falling here and walking thru them barefoot was a sensual feel all its own.” - https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=132&idt=107154&page=3
