First
Encounter
Of course I took the normal precautions of nude hiking
in less popular areas and of hiking during the week, so I’d hiked for years and
not encounter a clothed person. I’d even
lived at several naturist resorts. In
fact, at the time I was living at Shangri La in New River, AZ. Then one weekday three of us from the resort
decided to freehike about 10 miles north along the Aqua Fria river. We arrived, stripped, hiked nude to the
river, and enjoyed bolder-hopping along the way. As we rounded one large boulder a voice
called out “that looks like a comfortable way to hike”. An older, clothed couple was resting in the
shade of the bolder. We explained that
we lived at a local nudist resort, and hoped our nudity didn’t offend
them. They said “no”. We asked if any others were hiking in the
area. They said that there was a large
group of seniors hiking a short distance ahead as part of a Sun City senior
event, and they might be offended. So we
decided to turn around. Just as we hiked
over a high area, we unexpectedly hiked by another older couple and again
explained ourselves. The lady said “that’s
okay; we’re from California and aren’t offended by what others do”. We soon returned to the parking lot where we
had to dress. Of course this freehike was very memorable.

“I think most nudists are afraid to chance coming out
to family, friends and co-workers for fear of losing their jobs, family issues,
etc. . . . I'm self-employed in construction with my own small drywall and
painting business and I figured if others found out about my nudist life it
could hurt business. But, I slowly
chanced mentioning it to more and more of them, and found, that hasn't been the
case at all. In fact, it’s been mostly
very positive. With customers, I
approach the subject with casual confidence and am not overbearing. I'll just casually mention it somehow such as
mentioning how good it feels to be able to finally get out and get some sun without
tan lines and then I get a feel for their reaction. Or I’ll get to talking about liking privacy
and mention that we like to sun without swimsuits so privacy is a must for
us. Numerous customers have actually
allowed me to work naked on their jobs because of this, while the rest thought
it was cool or they just ignored it. But
it never seemed to hurt my chances of getting the job once, and I probably find
a way to hint at it with about 70% of my customers. So the fear was mostly in my mind.” – Guy

Naked
Meditation
In church several weeks ago I realized that I should
work less on the trails and meditate more, so each day after adding a few signs,
etc., to the trail, I have spent nearly an hour walking the trail nude and
sitting nude in the 12 meditation areas.
It has been wonderfully freeing and motivating. Here is a sample meditation that I speak
aloud in each area:
“I am the presence and power of God. As God’s child and using God's power I have
created this wonderful natural world to experience and enjoy. (At this point I mention those things I am
experiencing in the moment such as my breathing; the beautiful sky; the flowers, brush, and lichen-covered boulders; the feel of
breeze, sun, and shade on my naked body; the sound of birds, flies, distant airplanes, cars, and people.) I understand that this world is unreal - simply
a created simulation – but the detail of this creation is amazing; it has become my Garden of Eden that I love and
wouldn’t want to escape. I manifest
(mention those things I need such as financial abundance). And so it is.”

Normal people bathe, shave, and maybe sleep nude. Some brush their teeth, comb their hair, and

Birthday
Freehike
My most memorable and enjoyable birthday involved a
freehike. My wife at the time planned
the event without my knowledge. On my
birthday she invited me to visit a naturist friend’s house. When we arrived a number of my naturist friends
welcomed us and we went for a great freehike.
Then we returned to his house and had cake and icecream – nude of
course. This was the best birthday ever!

Mingus Mountain Freehike
Tuesday (4/11/2017) three freehiking enthusiasts (Ken, Dan,
and Amy) visited the Mingus Mountain Nature Trail. We freehiked the trail for about an hour and a half. The sun was out and the warmth it provided, plus the light breeze on our bare bodies, made this hike very memorable. We paused at the sitting circle near the end of the hike for a pleasant naked conversation. After the hike Amy and Ken ate a BBQ lunch, and then visited the land they have purchased where Ken erected a few trail signs and did naked meditation while Amy sunned. All in all, it was a wonderful naked day.

“Our attitudes towards female legs were, it seems,
still rather medieval when it came to the beginning of the 20th century; there
is a record by the Library of Congress of a ‘bathing suit inspector’ actually
measuring the distance between a woman's knee and the beginning of her bathing
suit, to make sure it fit with the regulations at the time (six inches was the
minimum allowed). Talk about body
policing. This occurred in 1922, when
bathing-dresses were, like flapper fashions, rising higher and higher above the
knee in America. It's interesting,
though, that for a long time naked bathing was regarded as perfectly normal in
public places, even in the supposedly repressed Victorian period; the Reverend
Francis Kilvert, a respectable Victorian gentleman, wrote regularly in his
diaries about public nude bathing and how normal it was.” – JR Thorpe, http://www.bustle.com/articles/172288-7-strange-beliefs-about-nudity-in-western-history?platform=hootsuite

“We find it obscene and oppressive that it’s illegal
to simply show body parts that most people have and that most people have seen.”

“Why we do spend so much money on cloths when naked is
free?” – Rupa, https://twitter.com/Rupa2106/status/747796473740296193
“Many females choose to become naturists in order to
make a feminist statement, which is that their body is not something that
exists in a sexualized way, for male scrutiny.
In being naked they are empowered.” - Jacques Freeman, http://www.thelocal.fr/20160613/young-french-naturists-spark-boom-in-nudism
“The problem with covering up is that clothing
enhances the ‘sexuality’ of the subject.
The briefer the clothing, the more the ‘other’ may become
‘excited.’ Our culture then blames the
scantily covered with ‘asking to be raped or sexually assaulted.’ Yet, curiously, certain clothing or
activities seem to tell us a different story of the human psyche. Take part in body painting and the naked body
becomes ‘art.’”
“Body shame is never good for us. It leads to negative consequences. It is learned and has never benefitted
anyone. We have had too many stigmas,
misinterpretations, and misconceptions about nudity. Together we can help end body shame.” - https://rfgjga1992.wordpress.com/2016/04/28/lets-do-all-this-to-promote-nudism/

QUOTES

“Naturists are usually very open-minded and
accepting. With all your clothes off,
how could you not be? Unlike a regular
beach where people stick to themselves, nude beaches are fabulous for friendly
social interaction. Although we are all
very different, being nude shows us that, in many ways, we’re all the same” - http://metro.co.uk/2014/09/10/10-reasons-you-should-go-to-a-nudist-beach-at-least-once-4833328/
“With the summer finally arrived (in the UK) and my
wife away for the week (she accepts me being nude at home/garden but
disapproves outside our area), I decided to have a fully naked staycation (but
working from home). By fully nude I mean
no clothes at all for any reason at any time and not even close by for any
unexpected event. I live in the country
so naturally this is much simpler than in a populated area especially since I
have a dog to walk 4 times a day. Some
of the dog walking included short sections of the country road including going
to the local reservoir for skinny dipping (normally once a day for me and the
dog to cool down) - only two cars passed me on the road with no comments or
reactions that I could see. I did cut
down on my daily runs and only did them when I got up early (4:30 as they are
on the road just 3 miles - never seen anyone at that time). One day at lunch a car pulled up at my drive
as I was doing some gardening there (my garden is private i.e. tall hedge but
an open drive way), naturally they saw me but after a slight pause they just
asked for directions and all was normal.
The biggest challenge was when my wife phoned to ask if I would go and
water her allotment. Naturally I said
yes, but I had to think about how during the day and evening there would be
many people there including dog walkers and children, so I decided to go early
morning (5am) didn't see anyone and as I was out I took in a 3 mile walk near a
ruin as well (didn't see anyone). I also
did a 4-mile cycle ride (at night) with 2 cars passing (again no reaction that
I could tell). Also took the dog in the
car to get to do a different walk - 4 miles 8am didn't see anyone. As its now the end of the week its almost
time to start wearing those clothes again we are starting to get short of a few
shopping items, but I guess I could have addressed that one with home delivery
service.” – JM Nude, http://www.naturist-corner.net/community/index.php?topic=20723.0
“I love to show people what I’m doing in my life so I
take pictures. . . when I’m at a nude beach and I wanna share with my followers
what I’m doing, I’ll take a photo. For
me being naked is just as normal as having a coffee when I wake up in the
morning. Sometimes I’m not even
realizing I’m naked at all.” – Harmen J. Pordon, https://harmenjp.wordpress.com/2016/08/17/omg-i-saw-you-naked-on-google/
“Being a nudist is such a pleasurable lifestyle. I was on my way home from Ohio one night and
decided to give it [nude driving] a try.
It was night time. the road was not being heavily traveled. I took off my clothes and kept on
driving. It was wonderful. I ended up getting close to home and thought
okay maybe I'd better get dressed again.
I drive naked any time I get the chance nowadays.” - https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=8077&idt=77839&vpage=1
