THE NAKED 4-H’s
By Ken Sunwalker

One bright, sunny day in the forest, Goldilocks met the three bears, and asked “why are you bare”?
Good question!

How would you answer Goldilocks?  Why are you a bare-naked person?

Not an easy question to answer; with so many complex and detailed answers.

The solution is to “Keep It Simple”.  The 4-H approach makes it easy to remember and answer this question in a SIMPLE way.

What are the four H’s?  - Happy, Healthy, Human, and Honest.

Happy

For me, this is the most important answer to why I enjoy being a naked person.

The sun and breeze caressing my entire body makes me realize exactly how much I miss by covering the majority of my skin – the largest sense organ.  I can avoid the burden of uncomfortable, ill-fitting clothes that shut out the world.  The naked FEELING is amazing!

Naked is FUN!  Remember skinny-dipping?  Playing naked is like being a carefree child again.  No wonder it’s such a challenge keeping clothes on young children.

I believe freedom is essential to happiness.  I feel free when I’m nude.  I forget my every-day cares.  And I am not so influenced by other’s opinions and cultures and fashions.

Since nakedness Feels good, is Fun, and sets me Free, it makes me HAPPY.  It’s that simple.

Ask yourself if your current approach to living makes you Happy.  If it’s not fun and freeing, it’s wrong for you.  And since you have a choice, why not feel Happy, fun, and free, rather than scared, serious, and sad?  Get naked!

Healthy

Here’s another important answer about why I live a naked lifestyle:

Naked keeps my mind SHARP!  Exhibitionism, voyeurism, inappropriate sexual thoughts, sexy behavior, pornography, and the like simply disappear in the light of naked reality.  Naked, my mind can focus on spirituality and creativity and truth.

A naked life makes me STRONG.  Naked in the sunlight, my body soaks in lots of healthy vitamin D.  Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) disappears.  My love of nature and the outdoors grows, so I’m motivated to engage in natural activity and exercise.  Not only that, but nudity encourages me to eat right and avoid unhealthy habits.  No weight disorders here!

And these healthy benefits reduce everyday STRESS.  Why worry?  Many people believe that going naked causes stress; instead it helps me get rid of it.  Nakedness brings calmness, complete relaxation, and comfort.  Nothing restricts or confines me.  Inhibitions and shame disappear.  Naked meditation and yoga fit well here.  I am less self-conscious.  My naked life is great!

So, a naked life helps me be HEALTHY - Sharp, Strong, and Stress-free.

Again, ask yourself if your current approach to living makes you Healthy.  If not, it’s wrong for you.  And since you have a choice, why not be mentally and physically Healthy, and stress-free, rather than slow, sick, and worried?  Get naked!

Human

Naked, I am very Human, so less judgmental, with a realistic body image, and positive social interaction.

JUDGMENTAL?  Naked I realize that everyone has different ideas and desires.  After all, they are simply being human.  They don’t “have” to agree with my opinions, and I don’t have to agree with theirs.  All can make a contribution.

I’m realistic about BODY IMAGE.  Seeing other’s bodies confirms that no one is perfect, so I quickly discard comparisons and negative thoughts.  I see everyone’s body as beautiful – flaws, scars, weight (or lack thereof) don’t get in the way anymore.

With a non-judgmental attitude, and lack of concern about body image, it’s easier to be SOCIABLE, to make new acquaintances and friends.  I enjoy spending time naked talking in the pool or hot tub or on a mountain trail or playing a game.  This is not a sexual closeness, but a feeling about shared beliefs and attitudes and activities.  My very closest, most trusted friends are naked people like me.

Again, ask yourself if your current approach to living is realistic for a human being.  If you’re striving to be something other than human, it’s wrong for you.  And since you have a choice, why not be truly Human, less judgmental, with realistic body image, and sociality, rather than trying to be non-human – impossible - and ending up a biased hermit?  Get naked!

Honest

Finally, nakedness helps me be me.  I’m more open and truthful and confident and humble, so I am real.

Naked, I 'm completely OPEN; I am totally in my natural state.  Since I was a child, I enjoyed being naked.  (Most children do by the way.)   Now, as a naked person I am open to reality and truth.  I accept who I am and why I’ve felt the way I did throughout my life.  This does not mean I disregard other interests and talents, but as a naked person I don’t concern myself with others’ opinions; rather, I follow my own interests and truth and love being me!

I’m CONFIDENT!  No fear!  Out of fear, some people become home-only, secret nudists, hiding behind walls and curtains, who run to get clothed if a visitor arrives.  They don’t display naked statues and photos.  Still others reserve naked adventures for vacations far from home where only strangers will see them - no one they know will know.  That’s not me.  Being happy, healthy, and human makes me confident, and that makes me attractive.  I tell others who I am.  I’m not afraid to appear naked.  I don’t hide or deny my nakedness.  I won’t get dressed just to please others.  I am who I am.

I’m HUMBLE.  Humility is a strength; it doesn’t mean you’re a push-over for others.  Humility means being open, being teachable, and being willing to share with others.  A Humble person accepts the Truth when it appears, so humility naturally brings a person closer to deity - spirituality increases.  Nakedness therefore helps one live a more spiritual life.  Misguided beliefs, fear, hiding, secrets – God will guide the “Humble”, spiritually-oriented naked person to overcome these false concerns and accept and share the truth.  You are reading this because you were guided to it

Finally, ask yourself if your current approach to living is honest.  If you can’t be open, confident, and humble, it’s wrong for you.  And since you have a choice, why not be Honest - open, determined, and humble.  Don’t try to live a lie.  Nothing will be right!  Get naked today!

The Answer

Why live a naked lifestyle?  Why build a naked home and yard?  Why talk to others about naked truths?  Why hold naked events?  I’ve often wondered these things, but now I understand.  And to keep things simple and easy to remember, if asked, I just say I live a naked lifestyle because it makes me HAPPY, HEALTHY, HUMAN, and HONEST.
