New River Freehike

Yesterday (2/12/18) six of us met in New River, Tonto National Forest (near Shangri La Resort) to enjoy a group freehike.  People came from as far away as Payson and Cave Creek.  After so many nice days, the weather was iffy, so a few cancelled, but many of us enjoyed hiking naked anyway.  Ken was the first to strip off, saying “naked is warmer than clothed”.  Who knows if that’s true, but naked Ken believed it for sure.  He said it has to do with body chi, which clothes disturb.  However, some hikers, including Amy, stayed clothed to keep out the cold.  The trail was flat but rocky in some places.  We noticed many types of cactus, including Chain-Fruit Cholla, Buckhorn Cholla, Christmas Cholla, Pencil Cholla, Teddy Bear Cholla, Engelman’s Prickly Pear, Hedge-Hog Cactus, Palo Verde Trees, and Jojoba brush.  We saw several other clothed people, but it was easy to step off the trail, so no one noticed us hiking naked.  Afterwards, most of the hikers met at Rock Springs Cafe to enjoy a wonderful hamburger.

We plan on freehiking every second Monday of the month.  Hopefully, the weather will be nicer next month, so we’ll have even more attend in March.  Be sure to sign up at and let us know you are coming by registering on the Meet-Up group "Verde Valley Nudists and Naturists" (https://www.meetup.com/Verde-Valley-Nudists-and-Naturists/).

And remember our house event at Ken and Amy’s new place in Dewey the 4th Monday evening of each month.  Space is limited, so if you want to attend, sign up today at "Verde Valley Nudists and Naturists" (https://www.meetup.com/Verde-Valley-Nudists-and-Naturists/).
