Sycamore
Creek Freehike
Wednesday, May 10, 2017, Amy, Dan, and I enjoyed a wonderful
freehike in the Sycamore Creek area near Cottonwood, AZ. The weather was cloudy, but fortunately not cold
enough to keep us clothed. We spent the
first hour or so driving dirt roads, before finding Parson’s Trailhead, and
seeing parked cars, figured it would be too crowded for a comfortable freehike,
so we searched out a trail in the opposite direction.
Once we found this less-used dirt road, we stripped
and headed down the path. As always, the
sun and breeze on our naked bodies felt wonderful. Freehiking always makes me happy! And it’s even better when I can freehike with
Amy and friends.
The trail was easy along the ridge for over a mile,
and then descended to the river valley.
Near the river we found a beautiful, secluded campsite, surrounded by
trees, with of all things, a nice swing, which we tried out – nude of course.
There was so much nature to enjoy. The cactus was blooming. The canyon and rock ledge views were
fantastic, and I found a piece of Indian Pottery, a thrown horseshoe, and a
quarter.
We only dressed for a few minutes when we passed the
one textile hiker along the way.
We even waved (naked) at a passing train. (I don’t think they noticed us.)
After a 3.5-mile hike, we returned to the cars and got dressed. One-half hour later we stopped at the “Hog Wild” restaurant in Cottonwood. (PS – the food was great!)
