“Bernie and Alex had posted an invitation . . . to
join them and some friends at a naked bowling event up in the Bavarian town of
Ingolstadt, just north of Munich . . . In all, seventeen people turned up,
including four women . . . It was refreshing to see several young couples, in
addition to the more predictable middle-aged men, like myself. . . At first it
was too cool for some of the group, but most of us stripped off immediately and
began a little casual bowling to warm up a bit.
The waitress from upstairs came down to take drink and food orders from
us occasionally, and while she may have thought we were all a bit odd to be
naked bowling, she was very polite and friendly about it. We whiled away several hours with bowling
games and chatting about all sorts of stuff . . . and generally having a good
time.” – Richard F.

“The most common and obvious answer to women’s lack of
participation in naturism is body image issues.
When invited to try naturism, many women respond that they are too
self-conscious about their own body or that they need to lose weight first. . .
society still places a lot more expectations and pressure on women to conform
to a certain beauty ideal (tall, slim, flat stomach, perky breasts, perfect
skin, etc.). There is far more value
placed on women’s appearance than on their character, intelligence, abilities
and / or accomplishments. . . There are multi-billion dollar industries that
profit off of women’s insecurities, always trying to sell us new products to ‘fix’
our imperfections. Through advertising
and the media, women are constantly told what their bodies are supposed to look
like and that their appearance is their most valuable asset. . . In many ways,
naturism is a great antidote to body image issues. . . being naked around other
women in everyday situations (the spa, the locker room, etc.) will generally
benefit women’s own personal body image in a profound and significant way. By seeing diverse body types, women will
realize that nobody matches the perfection of what they see in the media. So it’s unfortunate that these issues keep
women from trying naturism to begin with.” – Felicity, http://youngnaturistsamerica.com/why-naturism-has-lady-women-problem-today/

“[While freehiking] I've had a few encounters too and
I was surprised that they didn't go crazy, but I think people who hike enjoy
nature, and if there was a sign at most entrances to hiking areas saying clothing
optional you would see more folks nude, but everyone is afraid of getting
complained on, photographed, or worse arrested. . . if someone is out there doing something offensive sure arrest them
but mere hiking nude should be more acceptable . . . when I get out on a trail
I really believe I become one with nature - I step more softly and observe more
of my surroundings. I also think the
wildlife isn't as disturbed.” – Gabare, https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=132&idt=52238&page=2
